The violin in its current form came to life in the early 1500’s. There have been few changes since. Surprisingly, they are still made with the same techniques and many of the same tools. With a violin being composed of around 70 parts, it is by no means a simple instrument. A great deal of labor goes into the completion of a violin.
The strings of a violin place nearly 17 lbs of pressure on the bridge. This means a violin has to be designed for both tone and durability.
It is important to remember that violins can differ greatly. Few instruments have such broad price ranges as the violin. New instruments range from under $100, to tens of thousands of dollars. At first, it may seem impossible that there can be $100,000.00 violins. We hope to shed some light onto the reasons for this.

I have a cremona violin made around 1900 in the oridginal wooden case.This may also have been made before 1900.I would like to know the value.
